The classic sequence, run properly. Long draining strokes at steady medium pressure, worked toward the heart, over the whole body. Swedish is the treatment every other oil massage is a variation of, and it is the one to book when you want your legs and back to feel lighter rather than looser.
Swedish is not one movement but four, used in a set order. Knowing them makes it easier to tell your therapist what you want more of.
Legs that have been standing all day
The draining direction of the strokes is the reason this treatment is the standard answer for heavy legs. It is the most requested reason guests give when booking it.
A body that wants medium, not deep
Steady medium pressure all the way through, with no sudden deep work. If you want a therapist digging into a specific knot, the Deep Muscle Massage is the honest choice.
Straight after a hammam
Scrubbed skin takes oil better, so the Royal Hammam package pairs the bath with a full body massage in one appointment at a set price.

Good to Know
A Swedish massage is the classic oil sequence built from four strokes: long gliding effleurage, kneading petrissage, small circular friction and brisk tapotement near the end. What sets it apart from a lighter relaxation massage is direction. The strokes are worked toward the heart rather than in whichever direction the therapist happens to be standing, which is where the draining effect and the word purifying come from. Pressure stays at a steady medium throughout instead of building to deep work on one spot. The result most guests notice first is in the legs, which feel lighter rather than looser. It costs 500 AED for sixty minutes at Al Barsha and Bur Dubai. The Early Bird rate drops that to 370 AED when the appointment starts before 15:00, with no code and no voucher to claim. That rate is the Al Barsha and Bur Dubai one: DIFC prints its own Swedish menu at its own lengths and its own figures.
Ask what you want to feel afterwards. If the answer is lighter, book the Swedish: steady medium pressure, whole body, long draining strokes, and no soreness the next day. If the answer is that one specific area has been tight for weeks and you want someone to work into it, book the Deep Muscle Massage, which is slower, firmer and deliberately uncomfortable in places. Price is the other difference: Swedish starts at 500 AED for sixty minutes and deep muscle at 600 AED at Al Barsha and Bur Dubai, with DIFC pricing both separately. Guests who are genuinely unsure tend to do better starting with the Swedish, because it is easy to go deeper next time and harder to undo a session that was too much. Both carry the same 5% VAT at the till at Al Barsha and Bur Dubai, and both run at all three branches, so the branch you pick does not narrow the choice. DIFC lists them as Classical Swedish and Deep Tissue, at its own lengths and its own prices with VAT already inside.
All of it, within the time booked. The sequence runs back, then legs, then arms and shoulders, finishing at the neck. At sixty minutes for 500 AED that means every region gets attention but none of it gets long, so tell the therapist at the start if one area matters more than the rest and the time will be weighted toward it. Ninety minutes at 700 AED is the length that covers the whole body without rushing any part of it, and two hours at 800 AED leaves room for a genuine second pass. You keep your underwear on throughout and towels cover everything not being worked on at that moment. The Early Bird rate applies to every length here, so the same ninety minute session costs 525 AED rather than 700 when it starts before 15:00.
That depends on what you are treating. As a reset after long weeks on your feet, every two to four weeks is the pattern most of our regular guests settle into, and it is enough to keep the effect cumulative rather than starting over each time. Booked as an occasional treat, there is no minimum interval and no reason not to come when you feel like it. If you find yourself booking weekly because the same area keeps tightening, that is usually a sign the Deep Muscle Massage would serve you better than more frequent Swedish sessions. Prices are identical at Al Barsha and Bur Dubai, so frequency there is a question of time rather than of hunting down a cheaper address; DIFC runs its own figures. Booking before 15:00 also brings the rate down, which makes a regular habit meaningfully cheaper than the same habit built around evening appointments.
Yes, at any point, and you should. The therapist sets an opening pressure from what you agree before starting, but the only person who knows whether it is right is you. Say so in the moment rather than at the end, since a session spent quietly enduring pressure you did not want is a wasted hour at any price. Our therapists are European and Russian and work in English, so there is no need to gesture. Be aware that pushing a Swedish massage harder and harder turns it into something it is not built for: if firm is what you want from the outset, the Deep Muscle Massage at 600 AED is the treatment designed for that pressure. Al Barsha and Bur Dubai run this treatment at the same price, so switching between the two whenever one is more convenient costs you nothing. At DIFC it is on the menu as the Classical Swedish Massage, at that branch own lengths and rates.
